Editor: So, this is Joe Tilson's "Che Guevara (page 39)." It's striking how Tilson uses this almost comic-book style to depict such an iconic revolutionary figure. What's your take on this piece? Curator: The use of Pop aesthetics to portray Che is incredibly potent. Think about the socio-political landscape when this was made. What does it mean to commodify a revolutionary, and how does that sit within capitalist structures Tilson critiques? Editor: That's a great point! It makes me question the role of art in activism and how easily it can be co-opted. Thanks! Curator: Exactly! It’s a conversation about how symbols can both inspire and be manipulated. Food for thought, isn't it?
