This is M.C. Escher's "Double Planetoid," made using ink on paper. Look at how Escher builds this impossible world with tiny, deliberate strokes. He’s not just drawing; he’s constructing, like an architect laying bricks. It's a process of layering lines, building up textures that trick your eye. See the way the light and shadow play across the buildings? Escher is so good at creating a sense of depth with just black ink. The surface is flat, of course, but the illusion makes you think you could walk right into this space. I love the way he mixes the geometric with the organic, the buildings with the trees. The planetoid reminds me of Piranesi’s architectural fantasies, but with a touch of surrealism. Escher invites us to question what we see, to embrace the ambiguity of perception.
