"Covered Dish" is a white opal glass duck-shaped covered dish, designed by the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in 1887. The dish features a white body with a detailed feather pattern and a purple glass head with an eye of blue glass. The dish is currently in the collection of The Art Institute of Chicago and is a fine example of American glassmaking during the 19th century. This piece is a beautiful example of the "covered dish" genre, a popular form in American art and design of the 19th century.
