Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis must have dreamt this landscape into being with a brush dipped in ochre and umber, don’t you think? There’s a dark, brooding earth below, and a sun-drenched sky where birds, or maybe spirits, take flight around these looming silhouettes. What I love most is the elephant, the one that reminds me of a dream I once had, where ancient creatures roamed a radiant world. I’m wondering if Ciurlionis was thinking about our connection to the cosmos. The way the light hits the horizon is incredible, the paint looks thin and washy, as if the artist layered it on, gradually revealing this otherworldly vision. It makes me think about other painters, you know? People like Hilma af Klint who sought to capture unseen realms through abstraction. Ciurlionis, like them, was onto something deep, something about the shared language of feeling that transcends time. It's like they're all just having a big conversation, bouncing ideas off each other, sparking new ways of seeing.
