Leo Leuppi created ‘Variation IX’, with no date, an abstract piece that invites a unique interpretation of color and form. Leuppi, who lived through both World Wars, distilled his experiences into simplified, symbolic forms, moving away from representational art. At first glance, the shapes might appear simple, but let’s consider them as individual identities. Notice the stark contrast in color, the cool blues and blacks versus the singular red, creating a visual tension. Then, look at the column of white droplet shapes – how do they interact with the other elements? This artwork challenges traditional representations of identity and interaction. Leuppi asks us to consider our own perspectives, and challenges us to explore the depths of our own understanding of ourselves and each other. It's an invitation to see beyond the surface.
