Timmy 2008

Lu Cong painted “Timmy” using oil on canvas. Immediately, we observe a study in contrasts. The horizontal stripes of Timmy’s sweater clash softly with the vertical lines of the background door frame, creating a subtle visual tension. Cong’s control of the medium allows the artist to play with textures and tones, giving weight to the domestic scene. This balance of compositional elements invites us to reflect on semiotics – the symbolism of everyday objects and clothing.
