Paperweight c. 1848 - 1855

This "Paperweight" is a circular glass paperweight made by the Baccarat Glassworks in France, dating back to the mid-19th century. The paperweight showcases a delicate floral design with a single blue flower, white center, and green leaves, set against a background of colorful millefiori glass. The millefiori pattern, which translates to "thousand flowers" is created by fusing together rods of different colored glass, resulting in a decorative mosaic. The paperweight is currently on display at The Art Institute of Chicago.
