Editor: Here we have Dame Barbara Hepworth's 'Corymb'. I am immediately struck by its curves, that interplay of open and closed space. What do you make of it? Curator: Well, it’s like a dance, isn't it? A quiet conversation between form and void, material and light. I wonder, does it remind you of anything? Perhaps a shell, or some nascent, blooming thing? Editor: I can see that. It feels very organic, like something found in nature. Curator: Exactly! Hepworth wanted to capture a sense of growth, of vital energy. And those strings inside, almost like the strings of a musical instrument… don't they hint at an inner life? Editor: They do add another layer of intrigue! I see it differently now. Curator: That’s the beauty of Hepworth’s work, isn't it? It invites us to find our own connections and meaning, within its elegant embrace.
