Marco Breuer made this Untitled Tip in his own way, and it looks like no paint was involved. The surface is teeming with marks and textures. It's an all-over image, with no real focal point, just a network of tiny gestures, like he's making an event rather than an image. I can imagine Breuer working intuitively, maybe even meditatively, repeating the same kind of gesture over and over, each mark subtly different. He’s not afraid to get physical with the material; you can feel the pressure and the scrape of the tool. The color palette is restrained, mostly dark tones with tiny hints of gold. It almost feels like he’s digging into the surface, revealing hidden layers or textures underneath. It reminds me a little of Agnes Martin’s grids, but wilder, more untamed. Like a conversation between order and chaos, control and letting go. We’re all in this conversation, pushing boundaries and finding new ways to see.
