Jean-Louis Boussingault made L'Omnibus, a print, we don't know when, but look how he's built up the image bit by bit, like piecing together a puzzle, or maybe just seeing where the process takes you. I love how the whole thing is pretty much black and white, but it's not flat, is it? You can see the texture, the way he’s layered the ink, almost like you could touch it. The road heading down to the bottom looks like a dense thicket or a forest. There's this sense of movement in the marks, especially around the top, a kind of controlled chaos that gives it a real energy. The whole composition reminds me of something by Odilon Redon, that same dreamy, slightly unsettling vibe. Ultimately, what I like about this print is that it's not trying to tell you exactly what to think. It’s more like an invitation to wander around and make up your own story.
