Oleg Holosiy painted *Morning. Three Figures. Square* with oils, and its hazy, almost dreamlike quality really gets to me. The color palette is muted, mostly greens and grays, giving the piece a melancholic, introspective feel, like a memory fading at the edges. Look closely, and you can see how Holosiy built up the surface with layers of thin, transparent paint. The brushstrokes are loose and visible, allowing the underlayers to peek through. It’s almost as if he's inviting us to witness the painting's creation, not just the final image. The figure on the left, sitting, is particularly striking. It's just a few strokes of paint, but it conveys so much – a sense of stillness, contemplation. Holosiy's work reminds me a little of Gerhard Richter, that same interest in memory, blurriness, and the process of painting itself. It’s a reminder that art doesn’t always have to provide answers; it can also be a space for asking questions and embracing ambiguity.
