Zinaida Serebriakova painted this piece, Harvest, with what looks like oil on canvas, and it’s really about the feel of a process. There's this incredible layering of yellows and browns, almost like she’s building up the field from the ground up, stroke by stroke. Look at the haystacks – each one is rendered with such simple marks, but together they create this tangible presence. And those clouds? They're just these soft washes of color that give the whole scene a sense of movement and air. I love how you can almost feel the breeze rustling through the crops. It reminds me a bit of how Van Gogh approached landscapes, but with a more subdued palette. Both artists understood how to convey emotion through the physicality of paint, but Serebriakova's touch feels a little more gentle, more introspective. It’s like she's inviting you to step into this world and just breathe it all in.
