Robert Frank created "Weekend at Uribe's house 9" using photography. Born in Switzerland, Frank's work often reflects a sense of being an outsider, observing the nuances of American culture with a critical eye. Frank captured intimate moments, and this piece gives us a fragmented glimpse into a private world. We see children playing, portraits of young children, and the natural world surrounding the Uribe’s home. These images, presented as strips of film, evoke a sense of narrative, but withhold a clear story. Frank challenges traditional representations by presenting life in a raw, unfiltered way. As he once said, "There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment." It encourages us to reflect on our own experiences of place, memory, and the complex layers of identity that shape our understanding of ourselves and others.
