This black and white photograph was taken by John Gossage, and it shows an ordinary, unassuming interior space. Gossage's work often captures these overlooked corners of the world, inviting us to see beauty and meaning in the mundane. What strikes me is the delicate balance he achieves, between form and content, surface and depth. The composition hinges around the cupboard, door, and towels: a kind of still life. There's a softness to the light, a quiet intimacy that draws you in, inviting you to linger and explore the details. In the way he plays with light and shadow, texture and form, Gossage reminds me of the great abstract expressionists, like Agnes Martin, or even some of the early minimalist photographers. And ultimately, that's what makes Gossage such a compelling artist for me – it's his ability to transform the everyday into something extraordinary, inviting us to pause, to look, and to see the world around us in a new light.
