It depicts a seated figure with a donkey head, seemingly in contemplation, and a smaller study of a cat below. This preparatory sketch is thought to be for a larger work, likely related to Abildgaard's "Simo confides in Sosia," a play based on the Roman novel *The Golden Ass* by Apuleius. The drawing is held in the collection of SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst in Denmark.
