This small, golden medal, created by an anonymous artist in 1815, commemorates the defense of Brussels. It features the coat of arms of the city on one side, while the reverse displays the inscription "BELGICI RECHI, DUX NAVAL GAVERNSENS, WILHELMO NASSOVORO MDCCCXV", commemorating the role of William of Orange in the defense against Napoleon’s invasion of the Netherlands. The medal, currently housed in the Rijksmuseum, is a testament to the bravery of the citizens of Brussels and a reminder of the historical significance of the Battle of Waterloo.
