Editor: This photograph, "Untitled (cranes and construction on side of river)" by Jack Gould, gives me a stark industrial vibe. It's oddly beautiful in its geometry. What do you see in this piece? Curator: It's a curious inversion, isn't it? The negative space throws the familiar into abstraction. I see a dance between the man-made and the natural, a sort of industrial ballet, frozen in time. And the Kodak watermark, a ghost of the process itself. Does it speak to you of progress, or perhaps something else? Editor: Maybe both? Progress can be messy. Thanks, that helps me see it a little differently. Curator: Art's like that; it's a conversation, not a lecture. Now, go forth and make your own kind of beautiful mess!
