This silver "Tazza" or "Salver" was created by Pierre Platel in 1710-1711. It is a large, shallow dish with a raised foot that has a beading design around the rim. The piece is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This "Tazza" is a fine example of the Rococo style, which was popular in France during the 18th century. The piece is made of silver and is a classic example of the craftsmanship of this era. The "Tazza" would have been used for serving food and would have been a prominent piece in any aristocratic home.
