This letter to Philip Zilcken is written in ink, each word carefully placed on the page, a choreography of thought made visible. I imagine Louis de Saint-Jacques hunched over a desk, the nib of his pen scratching against the paper, each stroke a deliberate act of communication. I feel a connection to him, the way he pauses, considers, then commits his thoughts to the page. What was going through his head? Was he nervous about what the recipient would think? The ink is dark, almost black, contrasting with the pale paper. There's a sense of urgency, a desire to be heard, to connect with another soul through the written word. It reminds me that artists are always in conversation with one another, across time and space, inspiring each other’s creativity.
