Carl Chiarenza made "Interaction - Locomotive #004" without a specified date using gelatin silver print. It's like he's trying to catch something that's both there and not there, you know? There’s something beautiful about the way he’s got these vertical planks of wood leaning in, kinda aged and weathered. Look at the bottom of the wall, where it meets the ground. See those drips or stains, running downwards? It's as if the building is crying or sweating. It's raw, like a memory trying to surface. What I like about this piece is how it's not overly composed, it's kinda rough and ready, kinda like life. I’m reminded of Robert Frank, another photographer who was really interested in the poetics of the everyday. Both artists teach us that art isn't about perfection, it's about seeing the world with open eyes and an open heart.
