Saucer c. 18th century

This 18th-century, anonymous "Saucer" features a central scene of a bird perched on a branch within a circular frame surrounded by a band of stylized floral motifs. Hand-painted in bright colors, the saucer is a fine example of early American ceramics, a testament to the skills of anonymous artisans who produced decorative objects for everyday use. It's currently on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
