Editor: This is Zoran Music's "We Are Not the Last," an intaglio print held at the Tate. The textures are so raw, almost like looking at bones. What strikes you about this piece? Curator: The intaglio process itself is key. Think about the labor involved—the artist physically etching the plate, the acid biting into the metal. This work embodies the brutal reality of its subject through its very making. What does this process communicate to you? Editor: I guess that the rawness reflects the violence it depicts. It makes me think about the artist's own experiences and how he processed them. Curator: Precisely. Music was a prisoner at Dachau. This work isn't just about representing suffering, but the very act of bearing witness. The printing, the dissemination, all become part of the message. Editor: I hadn't considered that before. It really changes how I see the work. Curator: Examining the means of production can reveal so much about the meaning.
