Endre Rozsda made this drawing, Surrealist Tale, using pen and ink, and look at all the little worlds he creates within it! It's like a dreamscape where everything is meticulously rendered, yet nothing quite makes logical sense. The texture created by the hatching and cross-hatching gives the piece a tactile quality, like you could reach out and feel the ridges of the paper. The artist seems to be letting his imagination run wild, combining architectural elements, figures, and abstract shapes into a cohesive whole. Look at the way the lines vary in thickness and density. There’s a rhythm to it, a dance between control and spontaneity. I love how the eye is drawn to different areas of the composition, each offering its own unique visual experience. It reminds me a little of Giorgio de Chirico's metaphysical paintings, but with a more playful and whimsical sensibility. Rozsda invites us to embrace ambiguity and to find beauty in the unexpected.
