Dimensions 6 x 6 cm (2 3/8 x 2 3/8 in.)
Curator: Here we have a piece, about 6 by 6 cm, by Jack Gould, charmingly titled "Untitled (baton twirler)." Editor: It has a wonderful vintage feel, almost dreamlike. The tones are soft, the light diffused. Curator: Exactly. The composition strikes me as formally balanced. The twirler is positioned centrally against the backdrop. Editor: Absolutely. I wonder if Gould knew he was capturing a particular moment of performative innocence or something, you know? Curator: Perhaps, or maybe he was simply drawn to the geometry of the pose, the line of the baton cutting through the space. Editor: I love the little touches of rebellion like her pose that shows confidence while still being innocent. Curator: A fascinating tension there, wouldn’t you say? Editor: Definitely gives you something to think about, doesn't it?
