Editor: Here we have Alex Katz’s "Road," painted with what seems to be quick, confident strokes. It feels so immediate, almost like a fleeting memory. What strikes you about this piece? Curator: It's like Katz is painting the feeling of being there, not necessarily the place itself. The road isn’t just a road, is it? It's a path into something unknown, a visual poem on journeys and how we remember them. Editor: That makes so much sense! So, the simplicity is almost deceptive, isn’t it? Curator: Exactly! It’s about distillation, reducing the scene to its most potent essence. It makes you wonder what else he left out, doesn't it? Editor: Definitely! It makes me want to go for a walk and see what I might distill myself.
