This ink drawing of a woman, “The Bather,” was made by Alfred Freddy Krupa. Look at those scratches and scribbles, a whole lot of them together, but then, somehow, they add up to this calm face. I wonder if he started with the face and built the hair and body around it, or if he began with a whole bunch of lines and the figure appeared. You know, like how a form emerges out of chaos. It’s like he's channeling some kind of raw energy, the kind that comes from deep inside. I wonder about this woman's expression, the hint of a smile and, beneath that, a melancholy. It feels like a dance between control and letting go. I'm reminded of other painters who are obsessed with mark-making, like Twombly or, you know, even a little bit of Picasso. It's all part of this big, ongoing conversation.
