Editor: This is volume 7 of Hokusai's Manga sketchbooks. In these images of stormy waves, I'm struck by the energy and the almost chaotic composition. What are your thoughts on this work? Curator: Considering Hokusai's context, these sketches challenge the established social order. The turbulent waves can be seen as a metaphor for the political and social upheavals of the time. How does this imagery resonate with contemporary concerns about environmental crises and power structures? Editor: I never thought of it that way. It makes me look at it in a completely new way. Curator: Exactly! Art can challenge our understanding of the world and our place within it.
