Martiros Sarian made "Sevan Lake" with what looks like long, luscious strokes of oil paint. Blues and purples blend and pull our eyes across a wide expanse of water. I can almost feel Sarian breathing as he worked, his arm muscles remembering the curve of the land, the endlessness of the sky. Did he struggle with that horizon line where the water meets the mountains? I bet he layered those colors again and again, searching for that sweet spot where the seen world transforms into feeling. There's such a sensuousness to the paint application here. It reminds me how painting is not just about representation, but about touch, and intuition, and the sheer joy of pushing pigment around. Those thin parallel lines on the lake communicate the breeze, a wind that seems to whisper stories across time. Looking at this, I remember that we're all connected through art. It’s a conversation that never ends, an endless exchange of feeling.
