Asger Jorn made this print, On the Silent Myth, and it feels like he’s wrestling with some kind of story, maybe from a dream. The colours are dark and kind of moody, but the lines are really playful, like he's just letting his hand go where it wants. It’s almost like doodling, but with this serious, mythical weight behind it. You can see these figures emerging from the chaos of lines and colours, but they’re not quite solid, not quite knowable. Look at the way the blue and green sort of bleed into each other, creating this sense of depth. And then there’s this black, looming presence in the background. It's like the whole thing is about trying to grasp something just beyond our reach. Jorn reminds me a little of Francis Bacon, with that same sense of unease and raw emotion. For me, this piece is about the messy, uncertain process of trying to make sense of the world through art.
