Editor: Here we have "Canal and Bridge" by Denman Waldo Ross, it's currently held at the Harvard Art Museums. There's something so light and airy about this watercolor, almost dreamlike. What do you think gives it that quality? Curator: Ah, yes, it's a visual poem, isn't it? I think it's the way Ross captures light, the soft washes that bleed into each other. You can almost feel the humidity hanging in the air, can't you? It is as if he is painting a memory, more than a place. Editor: That's a lovely way to put it! So, it's more about the feeling than the place itself. Curator: Precisely! And aren't the best memories always that way? A sensation, a colour, a fleeting moment captured in the heart, translated onto paper. Editor: I never thought about it that way before. Now I have a new appreciation for it. Curator: Wonderful! Sometimes, the greatest art experiences are when you discover something new within yourself.
