Alexander Calder made "On the Yellow Plain" with paint on paper. It's all about shapes and colors doing their thing. The painting feels so free, like he's just letting the brush dance across the page. I love how the yellow paint is laid down kind of raw. You can see the strokes, how the brush moved, like it was a quick decision. And then those circles! Some are filled in with color, some are just outlines. The black outline of the circle almost feels shaky and imperfect. It's honest, you know? It's not trying to be perfect. It's just trying to be. Looking at this, I think of Joan Miró. Both artists have a way of making seriousness and playfulness meet on the canvas. It’s a conversation across generations, about how to make art that feels alive. The painting reminds me that art isn't about answers, it's about asking questions and enjoying the process.
