Louise Bourgeois made this watercolor and pencil drawing called, *A million ways to cum*. Look at the delicate washes of blue, like a memory fading at the edges, punctuated by that assertive burst of red. I can just imagine Bourgeois, in her studio, letting the water guide the pigment, almost like surrendering to a feeling. The red almost looks like an angry wound. It makes me wonder about her state of mind as she worked. Was she thinking of the body as a site of trauma, or maybe of intense pleasure? Or both. Probably both! That scribbled figure perched on top – is it a witness, a participant, or a judge? Bourgeois always had a way of making the personal feel universal, right? Like she was tapping into something ancient and raw. Her work always felt like a conversation with other artists, especially those who aren’t afraid to get messy and vulnerable. It's this kind of honesty that keeps the conversation going, keeps inspiring us to look deeper.
