This is a small photograph, made by Delizy, showing the Plein in Clamecy met de Église Saint-Martin. It is so sepia it's almost like a drawing, and the way the light falls feels like a watercolor. There is so much detail here that I find my eye going all over. The rough facade of the church contrasts with the smooth surface of the square. The composition of the photograph is very formal, yet the natural imperfections of the image creation make it feel very natural. I like the contrast between the light stone work, and the heavy gothic details, there is so much depth and nuance in the texture of the stone. It is the kind of image that makes you think about the nature of art, and how it is a constant conversation between artists, constantly referencing and building upon each other's work. It is this conversation that makes art so exciting and so important.
