Delizy made this photograph, “Jongen in een roeiboot op een water in Enghien”, and what strikes me is how everything seems to be in conversation with each other, not unlike a painting. Look at the way the reflections in the water seem to stretch and pull the trees into new shapes. I wonder what Delizy was thinking about as they watched the boy rowing? Were they contemplating light, form and shape, like a painter? Or were they simply trying to capture a fleeting moment? The sepia tone creates a sense of nostalgia, almost like a faded memory. I see a connection between Delizy's photographic eye and the way painters like Gerhard Richter use photography as a starting point, blurring the lines between representation and abstraction. Art forms feed into each other, creating new dialogues and ways of seeing.
