Gustave Serrurier-Bovy crafted this pedestal, and with it, he captured the fluidity of nature in wood. Note how the sinuous lines evoke a sense of organic growth, mirroring the Art Nouveau movement's fascination with the natural world. The pedestal's form, with its elongated curves, recalls the tendrils of climbing plants, a motif that reaches back to ancient depictions of the Tree of Life, a symbol of interconnectedness found in cultures across the globe. Consider the way the pedestal elevates its contents, reminiscent of classical columns and temple pedestals that hold sacred objects. This act of elevation can be seen as a primal expression of reverence, connecting us to the deeply rooted human impulse to honor and display what we hold dear. This pedestal, with its marriage of form and function, engages us on a subconscious level, speaking to our collective memory of nature's beauty. It reminds us that even in everyday objects, we can find echoes of the past, reshaped and reimagined for the present.

It’s a plant stand that appears to be a plant itself, sprouting from the floor. Its “branches” support shelves for displaying art objects and potted plants (though it has a support at the back, the top platform cannot bear anything too heavy). The design highlights the flame-like grain of the exotic wood, accentuating the beauty of the organic material.
