Editor: I see what you mean – the heavier lines in the foreground really do bring those figures forward! It’s almost cinematic. I hadn’t noticed that before. Curator: Indeed, this manipulation of line weight to achieve spatial depth is a critical formal device. It directs the eye and structures the entire visual experience. Editor: Fascinating.
