Kazuo Nakamura’s “Blue Reflections” feels like it came into being through an accumulation of tiny gestures, almost like he was knitting with paint. The overall palette is cool, blues and greens swirling together. I imagine Nakamura, in his studio, lost in thought, trying to capture something just beyond the grasp, the essence of a memory, maybe. He's building up the surface, layer by layer, like a meditative process. Look at how the paint is applied – thin, delicate strokes, almost vibrating on the canvas. There’s a real sense of depth here, the way he suggests form through these tiny marks. It reminds me of Agnes Martin’s subtle grids or maybe even some of those pointillist landscapes, where the whole image emerges from the sum of its parts. Painting is a form of embodied expression which embraces ambiguity and uncertainty. Ultimately, “Blue Reflections” is an invitation, encouraging us to slow down, to look closely, and find our own connections within it.
