Desmond Morris made Celebration with paint. It's all about the way these biomorphic shapes kinda float and frolic on the canvas, right? Like they're just vibing in their own little universe. And look at the paint itself – it's so smooth and thin, kinda like watercolor but not. The colours, these reds and yellows, really pop against the soft ground. The whole thing has this dreamlike quality, like it's something you saw in a really interesting state of mind. Like how the red figure at the left sort of loops up and around, it’s like a rhythm or gesture made visible. The way it dances across the canvas, totally unburdened. Morris’ playfulness is so refreshing, reminds me of Miro, but with a darker, more surreal twist. It’s like he's tapping into some primordial soup of creativity and letting it all spill out.
