Here's what Salvador Dalí was cooking up on his canvas, probably with oils, with this work 'LA MUSIQUE or L’ORCHESTRE ROUGE or LES SEPT ARTS'. I imagine Dalí here, wrestling with his subconscious, conjuring this theatrical scene. The red backdrop makes me think of a stage curtain, ready to reveal something strange. You've got these figures, almost like mannequins, contorted and playing musical instruments that are also kind of falling apart. A piano filled with water? Why not! I can't help but think of other painters who messed with reality like Giorgio de Chirico and maybe even some surrealist filmmakers like Buñuel. This feels like a fever dream—a lot of bizarre, kind of unsettling imagery all mushed together. Artists are always riffing off each other, borrowing ideas, pushing boundaries. And with Dalí, you know you're in for a wild ride, where nothing is quite what it seems and everything's up for grabs.
