Richard Artschwager challenges our perceptions of the everyday with "Up and Across". His unique way of blending sculpture and furniture encourages us to look closely at how we interact with objects in our spaces. Artschwager was deeply influenced by his experience as a WWII veteran, which encouraged him to question societal norms. His exploration of form and function invites us to question how we perceive the world around us. Is this a bench, or is it a series of abstract shapes carefully placed in space? Artschwager blurs the line between art and design, inviting a dialogue on the emotional and cultural values we assign to ordinary objects. His creations exist in a realm of their own, where simplicity meets complexity.
