Curator: Here we have an Untitled work by Richard Smith, part of the Tate collection. Visually, it’s… well, what’s your first impression? Editor: Oddly satisfying. It feels like a deconstructed, slightly wonky burger. Bold colours, geometric shapes, but also quite playful, isn’t it? Curator: I agree about the playfulness. The formal arrangement is intriguing: the juxtaposition of circles and triangles, the limited palette. It seems to explore the relationships between form and colour. Editor: Absolutely. The way Smith uses colour blocking, those flat areas of bold colour, it reminds me of early graphic design. I feel like I could almost eat it. Curator: Maybe. It certainly offers a feast for the eyes, a simplification of reality into something quite striking. Editor: It really does make you look at familiar shapes and colours in a completely new way, doesn't it? Curator: It does. It seems simple, but there's a depth and complexity to the relationships here. Editor: I'll never look at a burger the same way again!
