Simone Cantarini sketched "The Holy Trinity in Glory" with pen and brown ink. Cantarini lived and worked in a time when the Catholic Church significantly influenced artistic production, particularly through its patronage. This piece reflects the period’s religious fervor through its depiction of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Yet, Cantarini also brings a personal interpretation to the traditional subject. The intimate scale of the drawing and the softness of the lines suggest a personal meditation rather than a grand declaration of faith. The figures appear contemplative. The traditional representation of the Holy Trinity is developed by Cantarini's tender rendering. In this work, Cantarini invites us to consider the personal dimensions of faith and the intimate relationship between the divine and the individual.
