This glass was made by Lalique, and is now residing at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It’s a simple cup shape, but the lower area has this really interesting sort of geometric pattern. I can almost feel Lalique, the artist, carefully working with glass. The surface looks so smooth and precise, and the geometric patterns down near the base, which I can imagine were achieved through careful carving or molding, give the glass a sense of depth and texture. The shape of the glass itself is beautifully simple, almost like a classic vessel. It reminds me of the work of other glass artists, each one trying to find new ways to shape light and space through their work. These artists aren't just making objects, they're creating experiences. A glass is not just a thing; it’s a prompt, waiting to be filled, a vessel for experience.
