This glass was made by Lalique, and it’s an object that plays with simplicity and detail. It’s clear, almost invisible, yet the base is richly decorated. Looking at the clear part, it's like gazing into water. Smooth and subtle, almost like a minimalist painting where less is more. Then you drop your eye to the base. Suddenly, there’s this burst of intricate patterns, tiny details catching the light. It feels like a secret, a hidden world. That contrast gets me thinking about how we see. Sometimes it’s about the big picture, and sometimes it’s the tiny things that grab our attention. It reminds me a bit of what Giorgio Morandi did with his still life paintings. Mundane objects transformed into something poetic. This glass, with its blend of simplicity and detail, does something similar, inviting us to really see.
