This anonymous 18th-century engraving depicts Willem III, Prince of Orange, on horseback, holding a staff and a banner. The image is split into two parts: the left side shows the prince on horseback, and the right side depicts a dove carrying an olive branch, a symbol of peace and victory, flying over a calm sea. The inscription “A Domino Venit Pax Et Victoria Laeta” translates to “Peace and joyful victory come from the Lord.” The image is a powerful representation of Willem III as a leader who brings peace and victory to his people. This artwork, which is currently in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, is an important piece of Dutch history.
