This 1738 bronze medal, created by an unknown artist, was made for the Schoenmakersgilde van Vlissingen, the shoemaker's guild of Vlissingen in the Netherlands. The obverse depicts the guild's coat of arms featuring a crowned, ornate, vase-like object, a possible representation of the shoemaker's tools. The reverse features a leg with a shoe, an awl, a hammer, and a curved knife. The guild's name and the date are written in a circle around the artwork, "DE EERSTE VERENIGDE SCHOENMAKERS GILDE VAN VLISSINGEN 1738." These guild medals were awarded as a sign of membership and recognition of the work of the guild.
