Kornél Révész made this New Year's greeting card for Imre Bauer using linocut, and just look at the way he's carved the image out of the block! You can almost feel the artist's hand moving across the surface, carefully removing the material to create these crisp black and green shapes. I imagine Révész deeply focused, maybe even a little stressed as the year turned, trying to find the right image, the right sentiment. I’m wondering what he was thinking as he chose to depict the person sitting and reading, almost huddled in concentration. The sparse use of color—that pale green—it's so controlled and deliberate, highlighting key parts of the design and adding a touch of optimism to the overall image. Think about the graphic artists like Révész who came before us, quietly shaping the way we communicate. It's a reminder that art is often about this exchange, this conversation across time, inspiring each other to see the world in new ways.
