Editor: Here we have Stuart Davis' "Art Theory Text with Sequence Diagrams." It's a pretty straightforward piece of writing on paper, and it feels almost like a peek into the artist's stream of consciousness. What do you make of it? Curator: You know, it’s funny, because it almost reads like a philosophical koan. "Sequence is an object..." It's Davis wrestling with the fundamentals of abstraction, wouldn’t you say? Is he trying to nail down his artistic process or to define something fundamental? Editor: Perhaps both? I'm struck by how simple, yet dense, it is. Curator: Right! Perhaps it’s about how we perceive reality— how our mind transforms abstract sequences into something tangible, something "psychological." Editor: It definitely gives me something to think about. Curator: Me too! And that’s art doing its job, isn’t it?
