"De goede huishoudster" by Gordinne is a print, and it’s a fascinating glimpse into domestic life, rendered with such a light, almost playful touch. The colors are muted, like an old memory, but the scenes are so lively. I love how the artist uses color to guide your eye through the different vignettes. There’s this one scene, where the woman is churning butter, and the way the artist has rendered the wood grain of the butter churn, those little circular marks—it’s almost sculptural. It makes you think about the repetitive, physical nature of the work. It reminds me a little of early Hockney, the way he captured everyday scenes with such affection and a keen eye for detail. But Gordinne has their own thing going on here. It's like they’re saying, "Here’s the world, in all its messy, beautiful, and ambiguous glory."
