This is an image of Lydstep Caverns in Wales as seen through the eyes of Charles Allen. Appearing within the pages of what seems to be Allen’s guidebook to Tenby, this work invites us to consider how identity and place intersect. As we gaze upon this landscape, we're prompted to think about the concept of "Britishness," what it means to belong to a place, and who gets to define that belonging. Is it Allen? Is it the indigenous populations of Wales? How do these identities get shaped by the land itself? This image isn't just about a pretty view; it's about the stories, the histories, and the power dynamics that are embedded in the land. It challenges us to ask: whose stories are being told, and whose are being left out? Consider this image as an invitation to explore the untold stories of identity, history, and belonging.
