Takashi Murakami made this 'Yellow Jelly' thing, at some point, probably with acrylic paint and a screenprinting process. The surface feels kind of flat, even though the colors are so loud. Look at how the yellow isn't just yellow, it's got this speckled, almost dirty texture, like it's been distressed. This is intentional. It's like he's trying to make something mass-produced feel handmade, or maybe the other way around. Now, check out the eyes. So big, right? But if you look closer, there's all this chaotic stuff going on inside, like mini-abstract paintings. It's not just a cute cartoon, there's a whole world in there. Kind of like James Ensor, that great Belgian painter. He had a similar way of making things super-bright but also kind of messed up and dark. It's a reminder that things aren't always what they seem, and that art can be both fun and kinda twisted at the same time.
